With a strong track record of spinning-off life science and biomedical companies such as AYOXXA, Tip Biosystems, E3A Healthcare and co-Founder\/Inventor of ABYSS Processing and AVECRIS and supporting\u00a0numerous\u00a0other ventures, the lab made a big commercial impact and supporting\u00a0the health system. The lab in collaboration with the AIT Entrepreneurship Center works closely with various companies to develop innovative\u00a0products<\/i><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #3366ff; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Current Research\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Synthetic Biology<br \/>Micro\/Nanoencapsulation<\/p><p>Biosensors \/ Medical devices<\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Research Interest<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span>Development of new approaches and platform technologies for bioanalytics, biosensors and diagnostics. By utilizing synergies within microfabrication, encapsulation technology, surface\/colloidal chemistry and molecular biology novel analytical techniques and devices are created. Expert in analytical chemistry, colloidal chemistry and encapsulation. Major invention are \u201cReverse Phase LbL Encapsulation Technology\u201c to encapsulate macromolecular drugs (patents granted); \u201cMicrocapsule-PCR\u201d to perform millions of PCRs in parallel (patents granted); \u00a0 \u201cIn-situ Encoded Bead Microarrays\u201c for protein multiplexing (patents granted); \u201cSupernova biolabel technology\u201c for ultra-high sensitive bioassays (patents granted); \u201cPHOTOPETTE handheld\u201d and \u201cSPECTROPOD microvolume\u201d spectrophotometer technology enabling the first personal handheld spectrophotometer (patents granted) and \u201cBiliOptics Sclera Scanner\u201d for non-invasive jaundice diagnostics and management in infants.
